Rare Antique 1880s Simon Halbig Male German Character 14" Doll with Mustache & Worn Wool Military Outfit. Doll has a perfect bisque head with deep intaglio eyes, a detailed character face with furrowed brow, pronounced nose and eyebrow ridge, eyelines around his eyes and a very thick mustache. Bisque head is early and unmarked with no hairlines or repairs. Doll's original five piece composition body is unstrung and in the original paint finish with some normal age wear. Body is sturdy with several old tiny holes in the abdomen area; legs with painted black heeled boots. An early treasure! I found an interesting similar Simon Halbig Character Doll on line.
